We’ve owned our farm for just two weeks! In that time, we’ve cleaned out the house, studio apartment, garage, and tool shed (we still have 4 more buildings to clean out), we’ve filled a huge dumpster with garbage, a few pick up loads of metal and glass to be recycled, and plenty of fodder for bonfires! We’ve pulled up carpet and ceramic tile in the house.
In the studio apartment, we tore down the bathroom walls so we can make it bigger – the original bathroom did not have room for a sink! We removed the kitchenette counters and cabinets and we removed the carpet. The carpet was the most disgusting part! We repaired the joists in both the ceiling and the floor and replaced the rotting flooring. We took down the ugly wallpaper and washed the walls so they are ready for paint.
We’ve meet with contractors for the well, foundation, HVAC, and windows.
We’ve accomplished so much, and have so much more to do!
We have two weeks left before we have to be out of our current home. We still don’t have running water in the apartment or even a door that closes.
But we are undaunted.
