John celebrated Thanksgiving alone, while he continued to work on the house.  He had to work his regular job on the Friday after Thanksgiving, so he could not go with the rest of the family to Alabama. How did he celebrate? By eating left-over lasagna!  Don’t feel too sorry for him, he was invited to friends’ homes, but decided he’d rather surprise Katie with a working toilet!

Before the boys left for Alabama, they did get to go hunting and they and each got a deer.  That was great, except they had to leave the next morning.  John had to process the deer himself.

Working alone, John was able to install the kitchen countertop and sink in the kitchen.  We heated water with an electric kettle to wash dishes. At least we had running water!

After Katie got home, we installed the replacement propane heater, but it did not work either.  We had the same problem.  It was very frustrating.  We returned it and decided to buy a different model.  The third one finally worked!

Katie finished tiling the bathroom walls.  We just have to grout, figure out the shower walls and add a bathroom door – then the bathroom will be DONE!

While the flushing toilet in the apartment was the best news, the next best thing is that we finally got internet! 

Now that our life is more civil (because we have a flushing toilet and internet access in our apartment), we are certainly undaunted!
