Woohoo, our bathroom is almost done! Don’t let anyone tell you that grouting is easy. First, we had to clean the mortar from between the tiny accent tiles. Katie did that with a Dremel and it covered everything in the apartment with dust – so think we could write in it.

We couldn’t find a vanity that fit the sink we bought from Habitat for Humanity, so John decided he would build one. It looks like it belongs on a farm.
Getting the baseboards and crown molding right wasn’t easy either. We spent two nights cutting, re-cutting, and installing them.
Then we finished the bathroom door framing. We didn’t want to repeat the mistakes we made on the crown molding, so we measured, re-measured and measured again. The molding looked wonderful! But . . . surprise, the DOOR.DOES.NOT.FIT! We had been talking about putting a barn door somewhere. I guess we’ll put one in the bathroom – for now, a curtain will have to do.
Once we got the light fixtures hooked up, the circuit breaker kept tripping. We have since learned that when you are told that the floor radiant heat needs its own dedicated circuit, they are right.
Our next step will be getting the wiring fixed, the glass walls for the shower, and a hot water heater.
Life, however, is getting even more civilized. John built a rod to hang clothes in one of our closets. The closets have slanted roofs, so it took quite a bit of engineering, but our hang-up clothes are finally out of our living space.
