We got the electricity in the studio apartment all figured out and we now have a warm tile bathroom floor, hot water, and non-flickering lights! We engineered a way to hang a shower curtain and have said good-bye to walking across the yard to take a shower in the house (thank God for little conveniences)!
We installed smart lights and have been having fun with the different colors. We installed and painted shiplap in the kitchen – we love it! At this point, we have decided to stop all work on the studio apartment as we turn our attention to the other 6 buildings, since the apartment is now very livable. We will finish it after we’ve moved into the main house.
We took down the ceiling in the stone building (along with 6 huge bags of insulation) and started emptying the attic (did we mention that the previous owner left lots of stuff? We found 2 prosthetic legs!!) We made a trip to the dump and to the household chemical recycling center. Our burn pile is quite large now, but it has been too windy for a fire.
We moved tools into the main house and will begin taking down cabinets, sheetrock, and paneling next week.
We also made time to explore our property and appreciate the snow views.
Here are views of our semi-finished apartment:
